Lily Agius was born and raised in London, and studied for her first year of BA Hons. History of Art and Design at Manchester Metropolitan University, before moving to Malta to continue her degree at The University of Malta. Whilst on artist studio visits for her contemporary art course she knew she wanted to promote art and artists for a career, and soon after graduating, in 2005, she worked for The Malta Independent where she became the editor of a popular culture magazine – soon turning it into an ‘art’ orientated magazine promoting unknown, up and coming, and established artists and designers. Lily now produces her own art publication called Artpaper.
Lily organised her first exhibition in 2004 for English nude photographer Charles Roff, before picking up the pace with a string of exhibitions and other art and design related events. She opened her gallery in 2011 in the heart of the commercial town of Sliema, after years of searching for the right space, where she continues to promote Maltese and international fine art of all mediums.
Lily is known for her memorable exhibition openings, and energy.
