Holly Mitchell
Holly Mitchell was born and raised in the United Kingdom. Her fascination with photography began at a very early age. Holly's first teacher was an accomplished and talented landscape photographer, her father. Holly's further studies included the City and Guilds of London Institute where she gained certificates in Black and White and Lab & General Photography. In 1993, Holly moved to California to pursue her career in the film business. During this period, the camera remained her study and photography her passion. In 2007 she decided that this would become her full time career and she created 'HAMM Photography'.
Holly has lived and worked in various parts of the world including the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and China. She is now based on the historic and beautiful island of Malta.
Primarily a Lifestyle photographer, Holly has both a journalistic and creative approach to her work which is heavily influence by her quiet and observational nature. Holly often works within the sailing community. In Sardinia, she was employed to work with the Louis Vuitton team for their World Series Trophy. She has also had individual commissions from several participants for the Rolex Middle Sea Race.
Holly is intrigued by several diverse areas in photography and is always ready to jump into new waters. Recently she has become involved with the challenging world of food. She loves this new adventure and currently works for many local restaurants and chefs. Holly has an adventurous nature and loves to travel and explore. Living in Malta's vivid and theatrical history, she is continuously inspired by its colourful landscapes and culture, so covering local events and gatherings is also favourite. In addition to her photography, Holly designs bespoke albums and collages.
Holly's photographs have been published in various magazines and newspapers such as The Argonaut (LA); The Dancing Times and Dance Expressions (UK); Pjazza Magazine and The Malta Independent (MT). She has had two solo exhibitions in Los Angeles and is currently working on her first exhibition in Malta.
Holly has been fortunate to inherit her father's gifts: a natural eye and affinity for nature and landscapes. Here is where the heart lies.
