Madison Gregory
Born and raised in Providence Rhode Island, Madison expressed talent in both music and visual arts at a very young age. He was privately educated as a classical violinist until the age of eighteen. Over this time Madison also developed his skills in drawing and discovered a great love for many other forms of the arts. It was at this point that Madison decided that he would make a significant move in the direction of the Fine arts. He crossed the country and received his formal education at the Laguna College of Art and Design where he majored in drawing and painting with an emphasis on sculpture. Madison credits his influences to the styles of John Singer Sargent for his surface quality, and Rembrandt for his ability to manipulate light. While studying at The Laguna College of Art and Design, Madison experimented with many different styles of painting and sculpting, and is confident in his acquisition of a unique style that incorporates the influence of the impressionists, the French and Spanish academic movements, and the Italian Baroque period. Currently he is focused on figurative work, using media such as clay, plaster, oil paint and bronze. Madison plans to pursue a career in monumental sculpture.
